The City of Tampa in conjunction with the civic associations in greater Seminole Heights has been conducting meetings and finalizing plans since 2009. The rezoning will create a special “SH” set of zoning designations to provide for unique Seminole Heights zoning types that take our historic, urban neighborhood into mind rather than base everything on the modern suburban model as zoning does now.
The new rules will make it easier to take an existing structure on our commercial streets and change their commercial use. This will hopefully spur more redevelopment of our commercial corridors.
Neighbors all over Seminole Heights have been receiving letters informing them of the zoning change. Some may be confused because the initial set of meeting were held so long ago they may not be connecting the two. These notices are for Form Based Zoning.
If you’d like to know more, you can attend the OSHNA general membership meeting Tuesday night at the Garden Center (5800 N Central) from 6:30 where it will be the central topic. All neighbors are welcome regardless of membership or association boundaries.
You can also attend a city sponsored meeting: 29 January 201 6:00 p.m. or 30 January 2012 6:00 p.m. 1400 N. Boulevard, Room 301
